Mixtape of the week Brandon Dramatic

Brandon Dramatic is an up and coming emcee out of Toronto with a shitload of talent. Great lyrics, great flow, great everything. I have to emphasize how good this is. It isn't "good for blog rap" or "good for some kid on the internet" This is quality stuff, download now.

although I have not had enough time to fully absorb this mixtape its preliminary score (with 10 being Illmatic and 1 being Rebirth) this gets a 7.5.

Number 2

One of my very first poems, forgive me if its a little rough.... I really dislike Dick Cheney

One more song and than We're off

Did I just see you fucking scoff

At me and my passions you just toss

out of the window of your loft.

You really think that your the boss

of all of the dentists and all of their floss

do you think we're all pigs who'll just eat from your trough

Just cuas you throw in a little hot sauce

But don't you realize that you've already lost

cus that lip gloss was poison

and all of the moss that covered the ground and the base of that tree.

Was really the face of you and me

and you thought that it hurt the sting of a bee

But it doesn't compare to the sting of my glee

After Eight long years we're finally free

free to be you and me

And I wonder now if you see

see that you are not Bruce Lee

That you never meant shit

that your just a Dick

that unloads on the face of one of its friends

running the race that soon will end

and the bends of that road named history

Will never be kind to the likes of thee

and all of the ticks and all of the fleas

cling to your skin with angelic ease

and you start to wail that they'll never come free

and the stance of the quail as it levels its gun

and your squeals of terror as you try to run

From your certain death

as you run out of breath

you take a rest BOOM....

but than you hear that terrible sound

the sound of your body hitting the ground

and you knew that it was your time to go

and later that month you are found

the brave ranger who found you well he got sick

and than you were buried in a shallow grave

the tombstone said "This guys a dick"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to certain circumstances both good and bad, I will probably not be on the Internet very much over the next two months case anyone cares.

Mixtape of the Week "Late Night With the Roots"

http://www.zshare.net/download/70961350973214b3/
From 2dopeboyz
"I don’t know about you, but I’ve been wanting something like this for quite some time. A nice little collection of performance clips from Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. Ludacris, Clipse, Wale, Q-Tip, 50 Cent, Raekwon, Goodie Mob, Black Star, Public Enemy and more rocking with the legendary Roots crew! Something for the fans to vibe to. And while it would be dope if The Roots released something official with the soundboard recordings (ala the Sandwiches EP); this will definitely do. Big shouts to DJ Heat on compiling the songs."

02 Ludacris – I Do It For Hip Hop / Last Of A Dying Breed (Live)
03 Mos Def – Casa Bey (Live)

Stepping my pen game up.

Well you know you best believe that I be weaker than ever
like some thieves took my muscles though they stole only my sweater
and this some cold winter weather where the sea is
only thing on my mind right now is to find out where she is
tried to go look left but flowed right to where there heat is
and I tried warming up but just got colder than Mr. Freeze is
after dusting off my own shoulder
I was never Iced out till I got frozen over
and after all that I cracked to pieces
like a poorly constructed argument from a badly written thesis
I mean this
all that I say and more
but I don't need this
I'd rather leave this and sleep on the concrete cold and poor

Charles Hamilton
Normalcy

Beats: L
Lyrics: L
Originality: L

Normalcy isn’t the normal performance you’d expect from Charles Hamilton on a mixtape release. After taking a self-imposed hiatus during the second half of 2009, the Harlem-reppin’ rapper known for his affinity for Sonic The Hedgehog and the color pink isn’t on top of his usually good-natured game here.

The problem isn’t that Hamilton doesn’t have the same witty lyrics he had when he burst onto the Internet rap scene in 2008. To the contrary, on the mixtape’s best track, the menacing “New Music From Charles Hamilton,” he proves it by rapping, “I run the Web like backslash/H, double T, P, colon, kiss my Black ass.” Likewise, he takes aim at his critics on the aggressive “Enter The Scope” and successfully breaks down his skills on the mic on the catchy “See & Say.”

But not all of Normalcy follows this formula. Rather than rely on his deft lyricism, Charles resorts to obnoxious chuckling on the hook to the otherwise appealing “Workin In The Lab.” Likewise, he cleverly samples Gloria Estefan’s “Bad Boy” on the female-friendly “She’s Purrty” but butchers the chorus with AutoTune. And on one of the mixtape’s more bizarre efforts, Hamilton weirdly does his best to explain that he’s been immunized against the dreaded “Coodies.”

Fortunately, Hamilton is talented enough to make the majority of Normalcy listenable. But if he wants to achieve any level of success in the future, he probably needs to think about the problem he comes across on the aptly-titled “Loserville,” where he raps, “Smart as a whip but artistic/All my targets get hit but y’all missed my thoughts.” From the sound of things, Normalcyis anything but a standard effort from Charles Hamilton. —Chris Yuscavage

Seems pretty spot on although I like the chorus for "She's Purrty"

A Screaming comes across the sky

A Screaming comes across the sky
A gleaming light soaring high
nothing to compare it to
the evacuation still proceeds
invisible crashing and feeling blue
theres something that they need.
glass will fall a spectacle
a crystal palace total blackout
fast out the vestibule of the city
downtown bulletproof windows speeding
faces turn, rain came out
they pass in line, desolation
get on the train Grand Central Station
No light anywhere older than an Iron Queen
its night
he's afraid
theres something that they need

Happy (late) New Year!!

A new year and with it new challenges to rise up and meet.......... or continue to slack off.

Real talk though, I'm in my last year of high school with something close to a 2.2 GPA. I have not even began to fuck with anything relating to getting into a University, I don't have any clue about what I want to do career wise except write Poetry (and I think we all know how insanely wealthy us poets are in this day and age where just about every poet seems to think that the more abstract and impenetrable a poem is to the average man the better it is. This my friends is one of the reasons Hip-Hop has become as popular as it has, it has democratized poetry. There was once a time not so long ago when stadiums could be packed with people listening to Dylan Thomas or Robert Frost recite. Now it is the emcee that fulfills that role while the academic elite of modern poetry sit in their Ivory towers writing things that virtually nobody besides the occupiers of neighboring Ivory Towers will read.) I really have no idea how I am going to in the words of the great Talib Kweli "get by"

So I am starting a program of physical and spiritual growth (partly inspired by Levi's life at 40,000 feet, and partly by an NPR segment) called 'Consumed by Yoga Flame' the main goal of which is to produce happiness in myself and by extension (Because Scientific studies have shown that happiness and to a lesser extent unhappiness are contagious) other people happier.

and I am going to accomplish this task through none other than the ancient art of meditation

20 to thirty minutes a day every day starting Monday.

and until that cheers me up

Normalcy
New Reflection Eternal
New Blu
Skillz rap up
New Count Bass D
With plenty of great music still to come.

Empire State of Mind pt.3?

APPARENTLY VIACOM FEELS LIKE THIS VIDEO WAS CUTTING INTO THEIR PROFIT MARGINS

"Shoppin' mall is close, my community is gated/ My shorties are all private-school educated/ Home theater system, 60-inch plasma/ Clean suburban air, much better for my asthma/ Still hit the city, Times Square, keep it real/ Hard Rock Cafe for the appetizer deal/ M&M Store, Disney Store, I'm in heaven/ I own this town from 41st to 47/ Take you to 'The Lion King,' that show is fantastic/ Leave half an hour early so I can beat the traffic/ I can get home really fast, driver rocks an E-Z Pass/ Land of cheaper gas and the upper middle class."

Dropped Out

I......
Dropped out from the Plane
veered off of the lane
Dropped out of my school
tossed into some rain
and into some pain
Dropped into some crime
and into some time
than I went kinda mental
Dropped out of the physical
with help from a bed sheet
down into the spirit world
fell into the big sleep

Subconsciously inspired by The Message.

"I Guess Thats it"

I'm feeling downer than I ever had

trying so hard to stay grounded

why was it so damn hard

only later I found I was underground

pushing myself down deeper and deeper

sometimes shit happens

and unrequited love sucks

it really sucks balls

I guess I got to rise above it

but I can't forget

that feeling in the pit of my stomach

feelings like that are so hard to stomach

Feel like the Bee Gees trying to stay alive

how longs it been now 4 years 5?

And I'm 18 now an adult

so why do I feel like such a dolt

I'm not depressed or wasn't before

but theres a sadness growing more and more

but it makes me feel so alive this vibe

that I get, heaven sent, but the devil got to it

while it was coming down

I guess he's awful happy now

I can't take it much longer

this poem that is

so much for that.

The Road

Got BIG things planned for the future
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that I have some followers I want to recommend a book I just finished reading, "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.

This is one of the greatest books I have ever read ever ever EVER. I have nothing to give this book other than praise. (although if your into cheery feel good books this probably isn't for you)

From Wikipedia
The Road is a 2006 novel by American writer Cormac McCarthy. It is a post-apocalyptic tale of a journey taken by a father and his young son over a period of several months, across a landscape blasted by an unnamed cataclysm that destroyed all civilization and, apparently, most life on earth. The novel was awarded the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction in 2006.

Is there anybody out there?

What have I ever done
to prove my worth to anyone
no no no it isn't worth it
what is worth it public service
what is why is I cant tell
is it me the empty shell
no cant be it is the others
some are just scared of a little color
too many people ain't it a shame
that always have to lay the blame
at the feet of the ones who have no choice
at the feet of the ones who have no voice
the dread do you feel it in the air
so now I have to yell
because no one is ringing the bell
is there anybody alive out there!

I need an idea.

I need to find an idea

I want to go catch an idea

give me a gun I'll go out and hunt an idea

kidnap an idea from its bed

save an idea when you leave it for dead

go to an idea store, and whats more

if I don't have  the money I'll steal an idea

I see you with your only half formed ideas

those half baked no real  shape and dead end ideas

I'll  go idea mining no steam shovel no drill

I'll use a Dig Dug idea John Henry idea an old bearded miner idea with a pickax named Bill

I'll think up a rocket idea and blast off into space

collect some ideas from an alien  race

what a waste all these week kneed repeat

sloppily copied wacked emcee ideas

all these people sitting around no ideas of their own

the only ideas they get is from a  TV or phone

sitting at home just wasting away

no ideas to live no ideas to play
